The Four Seasons

In the field of jewelry design, flowers, birds, fish and insects are eternal creative themes, as they are the embodiments of "beautiful" creatures in the world. Having been engaged in jewelry design for 20 years, we have always believed that jewelry has a unique language to convey emotions and meanings to the world. It should not only have the "beauty" of appearance, but also the depth of "thought".

In the vast philosophical thoughts of art, painters use a few abstract strokes to express the infinite power of the universe. When using jewelry as a "brush", how should we present the stars that have shone brilliantly for thousands of years? When creative insights are no longer limited to the depiction of the world, a creative practice that transcends the dimensions of time and space begins to be attempted. Thus, our "Parallel Worlds" collection was born. It originates from a panoramic creative concept and, in essence, constructs a "transcendental art museum" in the small space of jewelry, connecting ancient and modern times as well as China and the West.

Human exploration of the heaven, earth and universe has been engraved in genes since the birth of civilization. The great creation myths in The Classic of Mountains and Seas reflect the ancient people's magnificent imagination of the mysteries of creation; the dagger made of meteorite iron unearthed from the tomb of Tutankhamun in Egypt confirms the ancient people's exploration track of extraterrestrial objects. The awe and pursuit of the unknown have always been surging in the blood of mankind. In the field of art, Grace Tang continues to pursue the fantastic ideas that transcend time and space through the "Parallel Worlds" collection, touching the profundity and mystery of the universe in the small space of jewelry.

Boundary - Breaking Inspiration:
Let Jewelry Bear the Imagination of the Universe

Empty yet concrete - this is the most intuitive feeling the universe brings to us. Celestial bodies such as stars and galaxies shine brilliantly in the deep universe, and the luster of K gold can perfectly create such a romantic and wonderful atmosphere. However, how to present the boundless dark background unique to the universe? We thought of "bronze". Its simple and vicissitudes texture seems to carry the traces of the universe's long history, and its layered color is also a vivid embodiment of the universe's diversity. More importantly, the carrier of bronze is closely connected with many ancient civilizations and cultures, spanning the East and the West. It implies that human curiosity and exploration of the universe have a long history and have never stopped through the years.

Countless scientists have proved that the universe is not two - dimensional or flat. When interpreting it in jewelry, we also strive to restore its three - dimensionality and richness in every detail. The hammered patterns on the surface of the bronze are carefully carved by craft masters by hand, leaving traces of different depths and shapes, just like the scattered pits on the surface of the moon; the colored sapphires inlaid and arranged on the bronze adopt the retro rose cut, which not only conveys the spirituality of colors, but also adds a touch of antiquity; the bright diamonds on the K gold form a visual contrast, increase the sense of spatial hierarchy, and allow people who see the work to intuitively feel the infinite charm of the universe. Moreover, all the base patterns also hide secrets, with the trajectories of nebulae carefully depicted, telling the story of order in the void.

Craftsmanship Breakthrough:
Rebalancing Structure and Aesthetics

It is not easy to present the bronze color with a sense of transcendence. Traditional 18K gold and 24K gold cannot achieve this effect due to the limitations of their melting points and properties. This time, we boldly used dual metals (gold and copper) as the main body of the jewelry. Breaking away from tradition in terms of materials is the first step we took; we adjusted the color of mineral dyes through oxidation and high - temperature firing. Any slight deviation in the degree of oxidation or firing temperature would lead to a world of difference in the effect. After hundreds of parameter tests and summaries of failures again and again, we finally fortunately obtained the deep and mysterious perfect bronze color. Breaking away from tradition in color research and development is the second step.

After solving the color problem, new challenges came one after another: with the vastly different melting points of copper and gold, how to fuse them and ensure the structural stability? We buried ourselves in research again, from adjusting the material ratio to fine - tuning the craft process. Each attempt was a test of patience, and each failure was an accumulation of experience. Through this team's hard work and countless moments of not giving up, we finally achieved a natural transition from gold to copper in craftsmanship, allowing the dual metals to coexist harmoniously. If integrating firmness and comfort is a required course for high - end jewelry, and conveying the shocking visual beauty is a tough battle for artistic jewelry, then achieving both is our mission.

Breaking Artistic Boundaries Requires 100% Dedication

For Grace Tang, every texture and every inlay is breaking the boundaries of conventional cognition. We hope that when people gaze at this collection, they see not only the exquisiteness and magnificence of the jewelry, but also the dedication behind thousands of times of starting over - it turns out that the pursuit of creative possibilities can really break through the limitations of reality.

Some people may ask: is it worth spending several years on R & D for a work that was just a concept at the beginning of its creation? Our answer is: true art never compromises for efficiency. We should think: when modern society always evaluates art by "how long it takes" and "whether it is worth it", do we ignore that some things cannot be measured by efficiency at all?

Just as the existence of parallel spaces itself negates the "uniqueness", the "non - mainstream" creations we have been attempting also prove that all those seemingly meaningless trials and errors will eventually condense into a bright star track leading to the unknown in the dimension of art. We have always practiced the belief that what is truly valuable is never the time saved, but how to use the limited life to create one more possibility of existence for the world.

In the vast firmament of art, we are accustomed to gazing up at grand sculptures, large-scale oil paintings, and stunning installation art, yet rarely do we cast the same artistic gaze upon jewelry, which is limited in size. When a piece of jewelry is created, the first question often arises from its practical function: "How should this be worn?"

But today, we would like to invite you, who are reading these words, to ponder a different question: Beyond being worn on the body, where else can jewelry exist?

The inquiry, "Must the vitality of jewelry be confined solely to being worn?" has permeated Grace Tang's two-decade creative journey. We have explored various possibilities—The "Starry Sky" jewelry bag merged jewelry with a practical carrier, sparking a new form of "wearable art"; the birth of "Spirit Spider" endowed jewelry with an "installational" expression. Each step has expanded the boundaries of jewelry art.

Now, this exploration has reached a more profound extension. When imagination breaks free from its chains, jewelry can take any form and reside in any place—and thus, the "Parallel Worlds" series of artistic jewelry paintings came into being.

A Revolution Within One Square Meter: When Jewelry Becomes a Spatial Narrator

Mixed-media painting is not merely a cross-disciplinary combination of materials, but a profound artistic philosophy that breaks away from pragmatism. It conveys ideas, awakens emotions, and reconstructs world perceptions through the inherent properties of materials themselves. Grace Tang's "Parallel Worlds" series is a brilliant extension of this philosophical thinking.

We have, for the first time, deeply embedded the creative philosophy of mixed-media painting into the field of jewelry art. The size of a one-square-meter segment first subverts the traditional perception of jewelry's volume. From the concept of the draft, to the compositional deduction of points, lines, and planes, to the exquisite realization of three-dimensional textures and spatial sense, this is not just an expansion of size, but a leap of dimensions.

Red copper is fused and fired at different temperatures, combined with mineral pigments, and subjected to countless rounds of manual hammering. Every texture undulation and color expression requires the full concentration of master craftsmen. This tests not only their skills and aesthetic taste, but more importantly, a craftsman's heart that remains true to its original aspiration.

The state during creation is almost a form of spiritual practice. When filled with passion, one must press forward without pause — to achieve the complete carving of an entire piece, it may be necessary to continuously use dozens of hammering tools and work for more than ten hours straight. Without mold references or fixed procedures, every "inevitable" finished product is a unique "accidental" creation. This passionate creative process makes each work in the "Parallel Worlds" series an irreproducible artistic masterpiece.

From Viewing to Experiencing: The Spatial Turn of Jewelry

The inspiration for the "Parallel Worlds" series stems from Grace Tang's profound perception of contemporary art over a decade ago. Standing before artistic paintings, she marveled at how even the most delicate frames could convey a majestic grandeur; gazing at sculptural works, she felt the powerful sense of spatial construction. This diversity of artistic expression sparked her long-standing reflections: How can jewelry embody such abstract grandeur? How can the spatial dimension of jewelry be expanded?

It is an enormous challenge to reinterpret the spiritual core concerning time and space, the universe, and the unknown through a brand-new carrier, while maintaining the unity of the collection and forging an intangible connection. Fortunately, our unwavering pursuit of art has led us to collaborate with master craftsmen who also strive for perfection, jointly exploring the subtle changes in copper tones, the natural transition of textures, and the boundaries of material expressiveness.

This exploration is not merely technical, but more importantly, conceptual. As jewelry moves from the human body to space, it gains a new narrative capacity — no longer merely speaking to the wearer's taste, but beginning to express a broader cosmic perspective.

Jewelry as a Tree: Cultivating the Possibilities of Art

After all, what kind of jewelry can be called a true work of art? The carat weight of gemstones, the purity of metals... It is superficial to define their artistic value by the market value of the materials themselves.

The jewelry art pursued by Grace Tang holds infinite possibilities, even transcending the limitations of "gender" and "wearing occasions". The "Parallel Worlds" artistic jewelry paintings can extend infinitely in space. The experience itself is the touch and shock that art can bring to the viewer.

Jewelry should be a "tree" that can grow freely in everyone's heart — it takes on whatever form you imagine it to have. It can be a piece of furniture with aesthetic appeal, a wall with a soul, the protagonist of a space, or even a shaper of the aura of an entire environment. This openness is precisely the core of jewelry art breaking through boundaries.

With Time as Gold, With Space as Diamond: Redefining Value

Why dedicate unimaginable effort to such "boundary-breaking" creations? From collecting precious gemstones to undertaking countless custom commissions, Grace Tang has always believed that artistic expression rooted in the depths of the soul and original concepts should not be confined by the framework of material value. This is not merely a piece of work, but an artistic practice that disregards the calculation of creation time, a derivative of space and time. These values far exceed those of the materials themselves.

The paintings embody the genes of jewelry — the use of gold leaf, the点缀 of diamonds. These familiar jewelry languages have gained new life on a new carrier. In the future, these elements may evolve into other forms, continuing their artistic journey.

Let us return to the initial question posed at the beginning of this article: Beyond being worn on the body, where else can jewelry exist?

The answer is: Anywhere.

Jewelry is inherently an art form without boundaries. For years, it has been confined by people's perceptions, yet it is inherently multifaceted — it can take the form of installation art, wearable art, or even functional art. It can hang on the wall of a living room, become a feature in a study, adorn public spaces, or exist in every corner of our lives.

It is our commitment to let jewelry serve as a bridge connecting art and daily life. This is not a negation of traditional jewelry, but a desire to cultivate new ground for jewelry art — to see, feel, and contemplate just how vast and free jewelry art can be.

Art knows no bounds. This is both the starting point of our exploration and its eternal direction.
